A list of our best and worst moments:

Best waterfall:   Sutherland Falls, Milford Track

Hardest Day:  Second day on the Heaphy, 28 km with heavy packs…

Worst sandflies:  Tough one everywhere had them!!  Probably the mouth of the Heaphy, but Tonga Quarry after a cyclone rates an honourable mention

Best view:  too many to judge:  top of McKinnon Pass, Tongariro Crossing

Worst weather:  Kepler – so bad we had to turn back; Abel Tasman – survived the cyclone while camping at at Tonga Quarry, Milford (Clinton Valley) – rained so hard they closed the track (but see also best weather…)

Best single day trek:  Tongariro Northern Circuit, Second day of the Heaphy, McKinnon Pass

Best Sunset:  Tongariro provided a great sunset, but the clear winner was the Heaphy…
